Below are the award winners for the 3rd Annual Fast Before the Feast 5K
held at the Mariners’ Museum Park in Newport News, VA. The race was held
on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2017. The event was organized,
conducted and results generated by the Peninsula Track Club. Proceeds
benefit the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank. Conditions at race time were
mostly clear, cold with a breeze and a temperature of 37 degrees at race
start.
A total of 836 runners entered the 5K with 764 runners completing the 5K.
This 5K course at the Mariner’s Museum Park has been USATF Certified
VA17036RT. The course was followed correctly by the runners.
There were some fast times this Thanksgiving morning. 1st Male was
Robert Carter, 20 of Melbourne FL in a time of 17:03 (5:30 pace). 2nd
Male was Jordan Price, 30 of Newport News VA in 17:33 followed by 3rd
place Male Paul Speight, 31 of Hampton VA in a time of 17:48.
For the Women, 1st place (and 11th finisher overall) went to Jackie
Hoffman, 24 of Chesapeake, VA in a time of 19:46. 2nd Woman was Jennifer
Anderson, 36 of Poquoson VA in 20:24 followed for 3rd place by Emily
Honeycutt, 29 of Newport News, VA with a time of 21:09
